My bride, Susie and I enjoy traveling for speaking engagements to one of our absolute favorite cities, “The Big Easy” New Orleans. It is real, it’s authentic. It is like no other city. The food, the people, the music, the history and the vibe are all totally intoxicating.

A must stop every time we are in New Orleans is the “Ruby Slipper” for a very cool breakfast experience. I am not sure what we love more, the food or the staff, as both are outstanding. The breakfast is the perfect remedy for a morning following a late night on Bourbon street and the staff is sure to bring a smile to your face. They are hip, fun and fully present with every guest.

During our last visit to the Ruby Slipper, we asked our server, Shelby what it was about this place that brought about such a great crew in the servers. Shelby’s response said it all: “We all arrive here at 6:00 a.m. for a breakfast together. The whole crew gets to taste the specials of the day, shares a meal, get updates on what’s going on and we all share what’s happening with each of us. It’s like a family sharing time.”

If you want to create a family culture, then you need to create family moments. A meal together, a morning huddle to make sure everyone is on the same page, taking an interest in everyone, and sharing who we are and what we want to be.

“Nice Bike” is all about creating a culture where team members feel acknowledged, honored and connected to something special.
